If you are reading this article now, you know how good oil cleansing is for the skin (welcome to the best side!) and you want all the tea on what products you should be considering for your oil cleanse. If not, you’re satisfying your curiosity on what exactly goes into oil cleansing and that’s okay too.

From my personal experience, oil cleansing has been amazing for my skin and gave it incredible benefits. Aside from the fact that it literally dissolves makeup, dirt and excess sebum, oils also have soothing and healing benefits for the skin.

There’s a wide range of cleansing oils and balms lately. Almost every skincare brand has an oil cleansing product so of course, they are not hard to come by. The real problem is figuring out which particular oil product works for your skin.

For oil cleansers, you could either use pre-made products or some natural oils. In this article, I make a list of a few of these that are great oil cleansers. Let’s dig in shall we?

First on my list is the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm

The “take the day off balm” literally melts away all of the makeup off your skin and hardly leaves traces of makeup on your skin. It is a balm and so it’s consistency is solid until you rub it between your palms when applying.

It is fragrance-free and gentle on the skin which makes it ideal for sensitive skin. It also works for all skin types.

It comes in a 125ml jar which means you get a pretty good amount of product.

When taking the product, it is advisable to use a scoop to take to avoid dipping your hands in the jar all the time.

Of course, we don’t want any bacteria or dirt finding its way into our product.

Second, on my list is the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

This cleansing formula has had a lot of good reviews for months. Your favorite skincare influencers swear by it and I personally think it is a great one too. It has a golden formula and its consistency is not too light or thick. It makes your face squeaky clean but does not dry out the skin, instead, it leaves your skin feeling clean and soft.

The composition of the DHC cleansing oil has antioxidants — rich olive oil that nourishes and hydrates the skin.

It has a unique water-soluble formula that rinses thoroughly and a mild fragrance.

Next, let’s talk about the Inkey List Oil and Water Double Cleanser

This is one of the interesting oil cleansers because it is a bi-phase cleanser, which means it is formulated with a combination of two very separate formula compositions. The purpose of a bi-phase cleanser is to cleanse the skin thoroughly in two successive steps. Amazing right?! This cleanser offers your skin a thorough cleanse without drying out your skin.

It is formulated with Sea Buckthorn and Sweet Almond Oils which gently and effectively melts down your makeup and Panthenol which helps with non-drying as it improves the skin’s moisture oils.

Now time for natural oils

First on my natural oil list is the Sweet Almond Oil

This is a personal favorite. It is a great oil cleanser also non-comedogenic.

It has fatty acids that help in dissolving the sebum which further prevents breakouts. You are bound to experience no or fewer breakouts if you use the sweet almond oil in your oil cleansing process. It is a great option for acne-prone and oily skin.

It is also mild and hypoallergenic which makes it gentle on the skin and unlikely to cause an allergic reaction to your skin and yes, it does make it suitable for sensitive skin as well.

Next on the list is Jojoba Oil

This is a natural and gentle oil to cleanse the skin with. It is also said to be the closest product in nature to the sebum produced by the skin.

What it does is to dissolve dirty sebum and replace it with clean sebum.

The great news is that jojoba oil will not strip the skin of its natural sebum.

Jojoba oil is also on the list of non-comedogenic oil meaning that it does not clog pores. It is also non-allergenic and so it makes it suitable for people with very sensitive skin.

Last but definitely not least is the Rosehip Seed Oil.

This is my second holy grail product! It’s so amazing. It is one of the products I keep purchasing because it has done a lot of good for my skin. I do not only use it as an oil cleanser but I use it during my evening routine as well as my face oil.

As a cleanser, it is definitely gentle on the skin and makes it a good choice for sensitive skin and people dealing with eczema.

It is the ideal cleansing oil for oily and acne-prone skin.

It is rich in antioxidants and so it is found to ease skin irritation and inflammation. Oh, and it melts down dirt, excess sebum and makeup like a champ.

I have come to love oil cleansing so much that the first skincare tip I’ll give someone asks me right now is to oil cleanse.

While you’re making product choices for yourself it is essential to know that you need to spend at least a minute indulging in oil cleansing.

On my happy days I do 8 to 15 minutes but at least 3 minutes on regular days. Follow through by wiping it off with a facecloth or a towel dipped in warm water. After oil cleansing, I move to my next step which is my second cleanse (washing my face with a water-based cleanser to get rid of any excess dirt or product that the oil cleanser didn’t get)

I also love patch tests when I get new products, it helps to understand how well a product will do on your skin.

These are just a few products listed out of the lot because I thought they are easy to come by, are mostly suitable for all skin types and you’ll totally love them.
